General5 Things You Should Do Before Visiting A Hair Salon

Are you going to your favourite hair salon in Singapore soon? Make sure you’re organized so that your hair appointment goes smoothly and that you get results that you absolutely adore!

Continue reading to learn about the five things you should do before your hair appointment!

#1 Don’t wash your hair right before going to bed.

Although it’s polite to arrive at the hair salon with clean hair, if you’re having your hair dyed, try not to shampoo your hair right before your appointment.

Washing your hair removes the natural oil coating on your scalp, which serves as a buffer against the chemicals in hair dye. Skip the shampoo for a few hours for a cleaner skin, smoother hair, and shinier color!

#2 Go easy on the product.

Hair that is too clean is difficult to work with, but hair that has an accumulation of oil and styling items is also undesirable!

On the day of your hair color appointment, avoid using too much styling product as this can cause the color to look uneven. It can also distort your hair stylist’s assessment of your hair type and texture. It’s best to keep your hair as natural as possible so that he or she can prescribe the best cut for you!

#3 Bring photos. Lots.

Since verbal explanations do not always translate well, provide your hairstylist with images of the look you want to achieve!

Bring pictures of different hair colors or styles that you like because those shades or cuts may not be appropriate for your hair type, face shape, or hairstyle. Most hairstylists would not be able to replicate a photograph exactly, so make sure you let him or her know what you absolutely do not want. Bring pictures of similar types that you don’t want so your hairstylist can get a better sense of your preferences and what to avoid.

#4 Dress the part.

When you get a haircut, you want the end result to represent the best version of yourself! Naturally, you should also dress in your most confident outfit and apply your favorite makeup look.

Your hairstylist will have a greater understanding of your sense of style and will be able to educate you on the right hairstyle or color for you. If you’re dressed up and looking great, you’ll have a better and higher norm on what hair you want.

#5 Let it all out.

It’s best to tell your hairstylist all about your hair and grooming routines so that he or she can give you the best advice!

Your hair background, such as coloring, bleaching, perms, and so on, can influence how your hair color turns out or whether certain treatments can harm your hair. You may be desperate for a particular look or color that will ruin your hair, but your hairstylist will say “no” and save you from disaster.

It’s also important to be truthful about your lifestyle habits! If you’re lazy about hair care or just too busy, tell your hairstylist so he or she can warn you against high-maintenance hairstyles that won’t look good without styling.
