General5 Common Pregnancy Problems and How to Deal With Them

The pregnancy period is not a cakewalk, at least, not for most women. The body goes through a lot of hormonal and physical changes during pregnancy. Everyone sees the bright side of childbirth and pregnancy glows, but the not-so-bright side is the common problems such as morning sickness, heartburn, indigestion, etc that come along with the pregnancy. Even healthy women can experience these common problems. So, let’s take a look at the 5 common pregnancy problems and how you can deal with them. These could be very common in unexpected pregnancy help.

1. Heartburn and ingestion in pregnancy

In the early stages of pregnancy, you may feel ingestion due to changes in hormonal levels. Later, in the second or third trimester, the ingestion becomes quite common as the baby is pushing up against your stomach. Symptoms of ingestion include heartburn, burping, feeling bloated, vomiting, or feeling sick. You can avoid heartburn and ingestion by eating smaller meals, avoiding eating just before bed, not drinking coffee by the end of the day, and sleeping on your left side. You can also try chewing gum as it produces more saliva which helps in neutralizing the acid.

2. Morning sickness in pregnancy

Morning sickness is felt by many pregnant women, especially in the first trimester. It is a feeling of nausea or vomiting, which usually happens in the morning time, but can happen at any time of the day or night. Morning sickness is usually due to hormonal changes during pregnancy. Other reasons behind nausea can be the imbalance in dietary potassium and magnesium, low blood sugar, or low level of Vitamin B6. You can avoid morning sickness in pregnancy by increasing your water intake, eating smaller meals, eating protein-rich food, and avoiding spicy or fatty food. You can try doing simple exercises or yoga as well.

3. Fatigue during pregnancy

You might feel hot, tired, or faint during pregnancy, which is normal. Fatigue in pregnancy usually happens due to hormonal changes in your body. The best ways to avoid or lower the effect of fatigue are by wearing loose clothes with breathable material, keeping your surroundings cool, drinking plenty of water, eating regularly to keep your blood sugar levels stable, and having a proper sleep schedule. Avoid any heavy chores that might result in an energy drain.

4. Backache in pregnancy

The change in hormones during pregnancy leads the ligaments in your body to relax and stretch to prepare you for labor. Due to this, you might feel a strain in the joints of your lower back and pelvis, leading to backache. The added weight of the baby intensifies the strain on your lower back. Pregnancy physio can be beneficial in addressing these discomforts. To avoid or reduce backache, you can avoid heavy lifting, have a good posture, wear shoes with low heels, sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees, and use a maternity support belt.

5. Insomnia in pregnancy

Various reasons such as back pain, discomfort, leg cramps, heartburn, breast tenderness, etc. can lead to insomnia, which means you will have difficulty sleeping or staying asleep. To avoid insomnia, you can level up your water intake, have a proper bedtime schedule, avoid eating food right before bed, have a comfortable and cozy environment while sleeping, and exercise often.
