If you’ve agreed with your local sports team to create clothes that bear their name, mascot, or logo, then you’re trying to figure out the best clothing to put them on. Whether the players are allowed to wear the clothes to practice, they wear them during school and during off time, or they’re also going to be for fans who will be cheering them on from the sidelines, the following are some clothing ideas to consider.
T-shirts
Wholesale blank t-shirts are a fantastic item to revamp for a local sports team, and they’re versatile for sports in all seasons. You can do many things with them, such as putting a player’s name or number on the back, an organization’s name on the front, or an image of the team’s mascot on the front or back or the sleeves. In addition, the t-shirts are just as great to wear during sports practice as they are when it is over.
The extensive range of t-shirt styles, such as pre-shrunk and oversized, can allow you to choose the options players or fans most want to wear. You could also consider homage pieces, such as ones that reflect a history of the particular sport on a local level (the founding date of the team, etc.).
Hoodies
For fall and winter sports, such as basketball and football, hoodies are a stylish option that those of all ages love wearing. Depending on how bulky they are, in addition to being worn as is, hoodies can allow sports fans to throw a jacket over them for a layered look. Additionally, those wearing hoodies can stay partially protected from the cold by either putting on the hood or using the pockets for hand warmth.
When designing blank hoodies, opt for front-and-center rather than on the back, sleeves, or hood. It could help keep the focus on the primary design while still giving wearers the warmth and style they desire as they support one of their favorite teams.
Zip pullovers
Zip pullovers provide much of the warmth of a hoodie, just without the hood and usually without a center front pocket (although many have side pockets, like the Bella + Canvas quarter-zip pullover wholesale fleece. While zip pullovers might not always be ideal for sports practice, they’re perfect for wearing while watching sports indoors or out. In addition, wearers can adjust the zipper–which typically stops not far from the neck–for added comfort by either wearing the zipper up, halfway in between, or as far down as it can go.
Embroidery would look great on zip pullovers, especially in the upper right corner of the front. It could be the name of the local team, a school or town affiliation if there is one, and more in a compact design.
Sweatpants
Sweatpants emblazoned with the name of the local sports team can work for sports practice and spectators. These blank pants can get revamped in several ways, including with the team’s name down the sides of the legs or going down the front of one leg. Blank sweatpants may come with or without a drawstring, but to make them appealing to more customers, consider getting them without the drawstring but with elastic at the waist. Also, think about forgoing the fleece-lined ones, as they might be too warm for those who want to wear them to sports practice.
Leggings
One of the most significant benefits of leggings is that wearers can sport them as they are or underneath sweatpants or jeans in really chilly temperatures. They also make it easy to layer quickly. The wearer can start with leggings and carry another pair of pants with them, and if it gets cold, they can put the additional layer on. Design ideas can be the same as the ones for sweatpants, as mentioned above.
Long-sleeve shirt
There are many benefits to wearing long-sleeve shirts for both players and spectators. The tops offer excellent coverage and warmth while doubling as a single layer and an ideal layering piece. In addition, sports team names can go down one or both sleeves, on the front of the shirts, or even on the back. Finally, consider making a pattern of the team’s mascot or logo.
Beanie hats
Blank beanie hats can be an excellent opportunity for spectators to display pride for a local sports team without necessarily wearing a more oversized clothing item, like a shirt or sweatpants. In addition, it’s an easy-to-carry item to wear while watching the team or–depending on the rules–during practice. Typically, the best two options for decorating the beanies include making a design right in the middle or, if it’s the wording, putting it horizontally along the bottom of the hat.
Creating sports team clothing
To use a local team’s name, mascot, logo, etc., in any way for blank inventory, you’ll need explicit consent from them to be able to do it. Not getting permission first can result in legal issues, being unable to use your already printed-on inventory, and losing out on the money you spent on the clothing pieces and any money you spent on revamping them.
Regarding doing the sports team clothing designs, keep it simple to see how well the clothes sell and which ones are the biggest sellers. Therefore, helping you make decisions in the future about what approach to take and provide an opportunity to design clothes again for a local sports team. However, one item you should consider is a limited-edition option with a more elaborate design, so you give players and fans at least one additional choice.
Before you put the designs on the clothing and release them to shoppers, run the clothing and design ideas by the decision-makers with the team. They’ll be able to guide you about what works for them and what doesn’t so everyone is on the same page.
