InterviewInterview With Preston Davis, Co-Founder & CEO of RxTechExam

The PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) Exam offers a certified qualification for Pharmacy Technicians. While many have dubbed it as a tough exam in the past, a new streamlined easy-to-follow, online PTCB course developed by RxTechExam takes away all the stress in exam preparation. To learn more about RxTechExam, we conducted an interview with Preston Davis, Co-Founder & CEO of RxTechExam.

1. Can you tell us more about RxTechExam?

Ask 10 pharmacy techs how they studied for PTCB Certification and you’re likely to get 10 different answers. Some scower the internet for practice questions, some use a textbook, and some paid an arm and a leg at a local school. We created a curriculum that is accessible to anyone with an internet connection and allow students to work at their own pace. The beauty of an online course is that we can easily and readily make changes baaed on changes in pharmacy law or to make things easier to understand for students.

2. What is the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam?

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board offers an aptitude exam based on what a pharmacy technician will need to know to effectively do their job. The role of pharmacy techs have evolved tremendously in the last 20 years, so the exam tests on a variety of topics relevant to all of the roles a certified pharmacy technician is qualified to fufill.

3. Why should someone take the PTCB exam in the first place?

PTCB Certication is required in most states. Moreso, employers typically require it. Even without experience, certification lets prospective employers know that an applicant has the knowledge necessary to do the job.

4. Why do you think that 42% of all people that attempted the PTCB exam in 2018 failed it?

There’s a saying, “Never time to do it right the first time. but always time to do it over again.” I believe just about anyone could pass the PTCB Exam, but without a course that builds on information, the learner is just left with an assortment of facts. Too many people attempt to piece together what they need to know online, but don’t gain any context or actual knowledge they can apply to complex questions.

5. How can you help students pass the PTCB exam?

RxTechExam’s courses guide students through applicable knowledge areas on the PTCB without unnecessary fluff. Our course instructors are eager to help. Our curriculum is constantly updated.

6. You provide a 100% Money-Back Guarantee. Can you tell us more about that?

We boast a very high pass rate on the PTCB Exam. Put simply: if you pass our course and fail the PTCB we’ll refund your course cost. We onky end up issuing a couple refunds a year.

7. Do you have any business relationships?

Yes! Perhaps our favorite relationships are our B2B customers. We have partnered with many schools, pharmacies, and staffing agencies to assist in creating a certified workforce. We create a “manager” login so that progress and grades are rapidly available.

8. Where do you see the profession after 5-years?

The PTCB announced (earlier this year) an Advanced Pharmacy Technician credential with 6 separate certificate areas. We are working diligently to be among the few recognized educators to provide the prerequisite coursework to sit for those certificate exams. Certified Pharmacy Technicians have proven their value and in 5 years, I expect:

a) more states to have authorized technician-product-verification

b) all 50 states to require PTCB Certification

c) technicians to have far more medication history and medication authorization oppurtunities in the hospital.
