In fact, the news about the revision of the PMP exam has never stopped. Even though the revision time has been delayed again and again due to the epidemic situation, we all know that sooner or later the PMP exam will be revised.
Just a week after 2021, the official website of PMI released a big news, which made the revision of the PMP examination a certainty.
Many students are so flustered when they hear this news that they are worried about whether it is useless to prepare for the exam for previous several months. In fact, there’s no need to worry at all.

1. Latest Release of PMI Official Website
(1) Examination Form
Since January 2nd, 2021, all the regions except Chinese mainland have taken the computer test. There are two types of computer-based examination: one is that the students use their computers to take the computer-based examination remotely; the other is that they go to the local examination center to take the computer-based examination. Immediately after the computer-based examination students will get the result.
(2) Types and Scores of PMP Examination
From January 2nd, 2021, the examination based on computer mode will be about 180 questions, the examination time will be about 230 minutes, and the rest time will be 10 minutes for two times during the process, and all the questions will be scored. The combination of multiple choice questions, matching, filling in the blank and single choice question is used for the PMP exam. According to the three dimensions of people, process and business environment, the questions are distributed, and the test results are displayed. Whether the written test type is changed or not will be informed by the Foundation.
(3) Examination Question Division and Scene
The new examination syllabus released in 2019 is divided into assessment areas according to people (about 42%), process (about 50%) and business environment (about 8%), and about 50% of the topic scenarios are waterfall type, and about 50% are agile and mixed type scenarios.

Single choice questions
The proportion of the chapters is close to that of our existing fields, and there are many questions tested on related parties, integration, resources, procurement and risks. What’ more, they focus on the soft skills dimensions of project manager leadership, team motivation, conflict management.
Multiple choice questions
The direction of testing is the process or measure of problem solving and the choice of tools. For example: the process of administrative closure and risk mitigation strategy.
Matching questions
The direction of testing is to match the corresponding situation to the knowledge points of various types in the book. For example, team stage, tool use and various risk strategies, and this time we examine the choice of tool technology, the choice of risk strategy, the responsibility of agile role, the role of agile 5 conference, Tuckman’ s theory and risk classification.
You joined a project in progress, because the project manager asked for sick leave. In the process of in-depth understanding of the team, you were impressed by the efficient cooperation and joint efforts of the project team to solve problems. Based on your observation, which stage of the Tuckman Ladder is the team in?
A-E respectively represents five stages: formation, shock, standardization, maturity and dissolution.

(2) Knowledge Dimension Analysis
Agile and mixed knowledge (about 50%): 95% of the scope is in our supplement of agile knowledge points. But the examination will be more in-depth. For example: scrum of scrum, iteration length, demo, MVP, WIP, burnout diagram.
People (about 42%): focus on team motivation and leadership of project manager.
Process (about 50%): focus on risk, procurement and quality measures
Business environment (about 8%): focus on the business argumentation before the project starts (whether to start the project or not) and the ongoing value argumentation (whether to continue the project or not).

After understanding these changes in PMP examination, it is not difficult to find that it always change along its ancestors. No matter how the PMP exam questions changes, the content of the testing is based on PMBOK, which is essentially concerned about our ability to solve problems.
