What do people do when they hear to no end from friends and family that they’re too much of a pushover in life? They may try to find assertiveness training sessions in Melbourne that will help them to tap into a new sense of confidence and strong communication that will help them get what they want out of life. What they’re really trying to do here is acquire a new personality trait that people find admirable or even irresistible.
What other personality traits do people find impossible not to admire?
Trait 1: Open-Mindedness
The ability to be open and accepting of change as an inevitable part of life and business more easily gain the admiration of others when compared to people who simply refuse to move with the flow of change. Those who refuse to change often believe themselves to be the more admirable because they are “standing their ground” or “refusing to compromise.” There is admittedly something admirable about those who stubbornly cling to standards of quality, or personal principles even when there’s a lot of pressure to change one’s mind about them. But most of the time being able to move with and adapt to change is better.
Trait 2: Humility
Those who still declare to the boss that a success was a team effort even when much of the work was done by them; those who are perfectly willing to admit what they don’t know; those who are unafraid of admitting when they were in the wrong — these are people who demonstrate the quality of humility. Despite the efforts of some to paint a picture of humility as being a weakness, it remains one of the most admirable qualities anyone can have.
Trait 3: Responsibility
This trait frequently goes hand in hand with humility. People who maintain a strong sense of both personal and professional responsibility easily attract the admiration and respect of others. It’s rooted in traditions of captains going down with the ship; people taking ownership of what they’ve done and what the results of those actions were. The opposite and much less admirable quality is that of finger pointing and playing the blame game.
Trait 4: Confidence and Assertiveness
People walk a fine line when it comes to confidence and assertiveness. We mentioned already that humility is a quality people admire, but it’s not to say that there’s no room for confidence. Admirable people know when best to display each trait more strongly. The line with confidence is crossed when one’s confidence or assertiveness turns into arrogance or some kind of feeling of superiority over others. A good amount of confidence is respectable and admirable, as it shows a degree of courage and comfort that others may wish they also had.
Trait 5: Compassion
Next comes compassion and strong feelings of empathy. It’s not just an admirable trait, but an enviable one, too. Where others are often consumed with less positive emotions, those with compassion can keep a level head, show understanding, and ultimately better communicate with those around them. It’s hard not to admire this when the person in question is showing it to you, as well, because they’re directing their understanding, empathy and sympathy at you at a time when you feel no one can understand you.
Trait 6: Honesty and Integrity
Those who are unafraid to do the right thing and be honest, even when it might hurt them in some way, are another kind of very admirable person. When someone won’t even protect their own interest because it would violate some deeply held principle, it’s very hard not to admire that.
