“People are doing these workouts. They’re sweating and sore, so they think it’s working. Because everyone else is sweaty and sore,” he says.
What Walsh saw as a positive among group workouts and other workout trends was the sense of community that seemed to draw many to these programs. “I see that as really powerful,” he explains. He wanted the Rise Movement to be a transparent system, a way of healing what he sees as a broken industry, by combining the community aspect that attracts so many people to fitness programs with a sound approach to training.
