Minimizing the spread of germs and cross contaminants has always been a priority for improving patient care; but in this new reality, healthcare workers, patients and visitors all have heightened expectations for the facilities they frequent. In an Essity survey, 90 per cent of respondents reported wanting increased cleaning and sanitizing in healthcare facilities.[1] These increasing demands are exhausting Environmental Services (EVS) teams, which are facing staffing issues, new and even stricter cleaning protocols, and additional reporting duties as they are pushed to do more with the same, or even less resources.
Challenges like these call for an innovative solution. Tork®, the global leader in workplace hygiene and an Essity brand, has introduced the world’s leading facility management solution for data-driven cleaning. Tork Vision Cleaning, the system uses people counters and connected dispensers to collect real-time data on traffic patterns and product usage to proactively inform cleaning staff of what, when, and where cleaning and dispenser refilling is needed. This allows facility managers to maximize operational efficiency and cleaning teams spend more time on critical tasks. It can even support the efforts of Infection Preventionists with its accurate reporting on cleaning procedures and hygiene product usage and availability.
Perhaps most importantly, facility managers agree that Tork Vision Cleaning makes a difference. Eighty five percent of customers said that the system helped them support a safer environment during COVID-19.[3] This is due in part to helping cleaning teams save time and ensure hygiene products are properly stocked. For example, Tork customers report that using a data-driven cleaning system reduced dispenser checks by 91 per cent on average, helping them save hundreds of hours a year that could be reallocated to other critical hygiene tasks.[4] They also found that with the system, dispensers remained stocked 99 per cent of the time, reducing complaints and promoting better hygiene.[5] All in all, customers found that using Tork Vision Cleaning also saved up to 20 per cent of cleaning hours— and 100 per cent said that the system helped them improve hygiene.[6]
The pandemic has heightened patient and staff awareness in infection prevention and the need to continue to reduce Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs). Digital solutions like Tork Vision Cleaning help EVS managers meet these expectations by maximizing efficiency so that they can work smarter – promoting better hygiene and creating a safer patient care environment for all.
