GeneralHow Much Does A Drug And Alcohol Treatment Center Typically Cost?

Individuals seeking treatment for drug and alcohol addiction are often worried about the cost. It is often a discouraging factor to most.

Whether undergoing treatment in a standard or a luxurious center, you are assured of getting treated by qualified professionals. There is a drug and alcohol treatment center to fit everyone’s budget and needs.

Treatment is mainly affected by the type of care offered. A drug alcohol treatment center will have charges based on the kind of program, geographical location, length and size of treatment, and amenities offered. Below are estimates of various options and costs.

Drug and Alcohol Detox

When medically supervised, detoxing at a center makes the patient more comfortable and able to handle withdrawal symptoms better. It is used for less severe addictions and can cost from $600 to $1000 daily. This price does not include the treatment program after detox; the cost increases if the patient requires careful monitoring.

When the detox is part of an inpatient program, it affects the cost. The cost also depends on whether the patient is being treated for drugs or alcohol, and it can be inpatient and outpatient, with inpatient requiring 24-hour monitoring and support. Outpatient detox takes about 5-14 days, while inpatient takes about nine days or longer.

Inpatient rehab

For this option, you must live at the facility and get care around the clock. The charges can range between $200 to $900 a day. For 30-day programs, drug and alcohol centers can charge between $15000 to $25000, with luxurious ones charging between $12000 and $60000.

The inpatient option is often expensive because a patient is in the center throughout, receiving different services like one-on-one therapy sessions, detox, group counseling, wellness activities, and aftercare plan treatment.  Some inpatient centers are hospital-based, while others are residential. This treatment lasts for 1 to 3 months.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is a popular option as it allows patients to live at home as they get treated. Patients must avail themselves at least once weekly for weekly counseling sessions during the day and return home at night. Patients treated for less severe alcohol and drug addiction are the perfect candidates for this option.

The cost can be between $150 and $200 daily, while, for a 3-month program, it ranges between $5000 and $ 10000. The prices depend on the number of visits a patient makes every week and for how long. It is cheaper than inpatient care because a patient does not reside in the center, instead they live at home and come to rehab for treatment during the day.

Partial Hospitalization Program(PHP)

This intensive outpatient program offers individual and group counseling sessions for at least 20 hours a week. It costs $350 to $450 per day. A patient lives at home while regularly getting treated, often five times a week, and spends at least 4-8 hours a day receiving treatment. This program is designed to last for at least three months.

Intensive Outpatient Program(IOP)

It is less intensive than the PHP, and the patient is treated for at least three days a week for 1 to 3 weeks. Therapy sessions are between $100 to $500 per session. Prices also vary depending on the facility and the length of the program. If the program runs for an extended period, some centers give discounts.

Summary

Paying for alcohol and drug treatment can be expensive, and when choosing a center, look at the different payment plans. Some drug and alcohol treatment centers have monthly payments, scholarships, public and private health insurance, and loans as payment plans. There is a treatment center for any budget, and the estimates above are a starting point.
