Covid-195 Ways to Stay Cautious as Covid-19 Safety Measures Relax

Since the coronavirus outbreak in March, millions of people from across the country have been ordered to stay at home. However, with safety measures beginning to ease, the threat of coronavirus is still ever-present. Whether you’re returning to work, going to see friends and family, or you will be in busy places, here are 5 ways on how you can stay cautious and safe from now onwards.

Understand the Importance of Social Distancing

No matter where you go, it’s vital that you social distance yourself from others. It’s recommended by the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) that you stay at least 6 feet apart from other people. While safety measures are beginning to relax, you should still try your best in limiting close contact with others who don’t live with you. The coronavirus can spread to people before they know they are infected, so it’s advised to stay away from others if you can, regardless of whether you or they show no symptoms.

Avoid Crowded Areas

If you are heading to work or performing daily errands, try and avoid areas where plenty of people are present. You may not realize it, but someone near to you could be infected and show no signs of the virus, and although being outside is safer than being indoors, being in confined spaces with many others will put you at a higher risk of getting COVID-19. There are several measures you can take regarding public transport, such as changing the time you get the bus or train, as well as keeping a safe distance from other commuters.

Wash Your Hands Regularly

Over the past couple of months, you will be all too aware of the importance of washing your hands. Even though COVID-19 safety measures are beginning to ease, you should still keep washing your hands regularly and thoroughly. Make sure not to touch your face, and if you are away from home and don’t have access to a sink, keeping a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you is important. If you’re at home or in the office, washing your hands with water and soap for a minimum of 20 seconds is crucial.

Wear a Mask

The benefits you gain from wearing a face mask while out and about are clear. Wearing a face mask will reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and help save lives. A face mask will offer some protection to you and others, by creating a physical barrier to airborne droplets. Your face mask should be worn in front of your nose and mouth to provide maximum safety. You can purchase masks for protecting yourself and others from a variety of outlets. Whether you’re heading outside for a matter of minutes, or you will be out all day, you should never underestimate the importance of wearing a face mask.

Disinfect Surfaces

If you are returning to work, there will be many surfaces that are breeding grounds for the coronavirus. Telephones, door handles, computers, and worktops are all commonly touched surfaces and items in the workplace, so make sure that you clean and disinfect them regularly to reduce the risk of you becoming infected. Using wipes and making cleaning and disinfecting a priority will help keep you and your colleagues safe and protected; use medical-grade, chemical-resistant nitrile gloves to ensure that you get complete protection when disinfecting.

Although COVID-19 safety measures are beginning to relax, that is not to say that you should let your guard down. People are still being infected regardless of where you live in the country, so being alert, cautious, and aware of your surroundings can help reduce the risk of you becoming infected and infecting others.
